NA Regional Qualifiers Week 7 - Recap

by HiRez ESports | Jun 23, 2014
The weeks are winding down, with only 3 more to go here in the NA Regional Qualifiers and the top teams are starting to secure their spots in the rankings.  Competing for a spot in our Regional LAN where the top 4 teams will stake their claim in front of a live audience, there is a lot on the line.  With that being said, lets go over what happened this week in North America.

        Snipe         Team Dignitas     COGnitive Gaming
          1st                          2nd                             3rd

First things first, we want to focus on who took 1st Place this week: SNIPE.  Snipe always being one of top performing teams in these qualifiers has yet to see the top spot, until Saturday.  Being the third seed, and proving to everyone why they deserve to attend the Regional LAN team SNIPE outperformed everyone this week.  With a narrow win over 2nd seed COGnitive Gaming in the semifinals they secured there spot in the finals, a spot they haven't seen since Week 1.  Only this time was a little different.  After losing the first game to Team Dignitas, Snipe, in what may have been their most glorious moment thus far in the qualifiers turned the series around and came back beating them in the final two games and crowned themselves Week 7 NA Champs.  This helps them immensily in the rankings and if these lower seeded teams don't step up their game Snipe could very well count on advancing to the Regional LAN.

Second well mention Team Dignitas taking a fair 2nd place this week keeping their number 1 seed at a safe distance from any other competitors.  COGnitive Gaming also keeping their 2nd seed safe with a win over newly named COGnitive RED (formerly The Game Changers) in the bronze match this past Saturday.  If teams like Five Angry Men, Critasaurus, Torch and down the seeding ladder don't pull off some EU upset magic, we may very well start to see our top 4 teams established as they are.

As anything can happen, and our predictions seem to be getting more and more askew each week there is still hope for anyone to sneak up, and take the big teams by surprise.  With 3 weeks down to go we'd love to hear your feedback on how we've been doing and where we're going!  Tweet us at @SmitePro and give us your thoughts.  Also, don't forget to follow our Twitch Channel - www.Twitch.tv/Smitegame - to catch all of our tournament broadcasts.
