The End of 2013 Tournament Series Recap

by HiRez ESports | Dec 31, 2013

And that's a wrap! The 2013 season has ended and boy were there some top notch games played!

In both the North American and European scene, the top 4 teams fought it out in a single elimination tournament for the top prize of $3,000. And as we just mentioned, these games were awesome! Be sure to check out the eSports site for the match details of each deciding game.

Without further adieu, here are the results:

North America

1st: Cognitive Gaming
- $3,000

2nd: Denial eSports - $1,500
3rd: Team Dignitas - $500
4th: Last Resort - 1,200 gems/player

The highlight of the North American tournament had to have been the semi-final series between Denial eSports and Team Dignitas. Team Dignitas, being the 2nd seed, wasn't able to take down the 3rd seed, Denial eSports. Dignitas was able to win the first game of the series, but struggled to hold that lead in the next to matchup.

Europe

1st: Amaranthine - $3,000
2nd: Reason Gaming - $1,500
3rd: Cloud 9 HyperX - $500
4th: Mortality EU - 1,200 gems/player

The highlight of the European tournament also took place in the semi-finals. Instead of the 2nd and 3rd place matchup, it was the 1st and 4th place matchup between Cloud 9 HyperX and Reason Gaming. They were spectacular games to watch that continually went back and forth, but at the end of the day, it was Reason Gaming who was able to take down the #1 seed and advance themselves into the finals.

That'll do it for 2013, folks! But this is just the beginning. 2014 has a lot of big plans in the making, so be sure you continue to keep in touch with the SMITE eSports scene. Thanks for watching and we'll see you next year!
