NA Regional Qualifiers Week 10 - Recap

by HiRez ESports | Jul 14, 2014
Week 10, the final week of the Smite World Championship Regional Qualifiers, and what a journey it's been.  Eleven weeks ago we started this trip, a trip that results in the top 4 teams moving on to our upcoming Smite Pro League and a spot at our Pro League Kickoff LAN where these teams will compete for $50,000 in front of a live audience.  These teams have come so far, and have a ways to go. Let's take a look at the results from week 10 and the conclusion of the Regional Qualifiers.

COGnitive Gaming     Team Dignitas            Snipe
           1st                                2nd                            3rd

There's a reason everyone says #KingCOG, and after clinching the number 1 seed with a 1st place victory this week, we all know why.  Finishing these qualifiers very strong, with 1st place victories in the final 3 weeks, these guys deserve the number 1 spot heading into the pro league. After seeing their sister team (CognitiveRed) get defeated in the quarterfinals, Cognitive Gaming made it a point to send the Five Angry Men packing when they met in the semi's.  After defeating FAM, they went on to sweep Team Dignitas in the Grand Finals 2-0.  With Cognitive's mid laner MLCst3alth hitting nearly every snipe with Ra, as well as the always impressive performance from jungler Andinster, Team Dignitas didn't stand a chance.  Congratulations to Cognitive gaming for not only a 1st place victory this week, but 1st place in the qualifiers overall.

Team Dignitas, who held the number 1 seed for most of the qualifiers, takes 2nd place this week as well as the 2nd seed in our upcoming Smite Pro League.  After defeating Snipe in the semifinals, they just couldn't solidify a win against Cognitive Gaming in the finals.  Snipe, the 3rd place team this week, also clinches the 3rd seed going into the Pro League with a win over Five Angry Men in the bronze match.  Five Angry Men, had they won the bronze match, would have taken the 4th spot from Cognitive Red.  Due to that loss, Cognitive Red earned themselves the 4th and final spot in the Smite Pro League Kickoff LAN.
